Maureen Denise McCormick, the only child of Richard McCormick Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father worked as an educator at school and her mom was a stay at home mom. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her brothers older than her. From a young age McCormick enjoyed singing and dance, and she would frequently put on puppet shows for youngsters in the area. Her fairytale rise to fame began when she was crowned her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was 6 which led to an inquiry from an agent for talent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who asked if she would like to be in show business. Her first major role came in 1964, when she appeared in a television commercial featuring Mattels new doll Baby Pattaburp. That year that followed, she appeared in a second commercial on television for Chatty Cathy's doll. The following year, McCormick was commissioned by La Jolla Playhouse to play the role of the character Wind It up until It breaks. The Brady Bunch McCormick won the 1969 audition of 1200 kids to be one of the oldest twins on the TV show The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed together with Robert Reed. This show lasted for five seasons. In her book Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice which was published in 2008 McCormick revealed that during the fifth season, she almost lost her virginity to her screen brother and co-star Barry Williams.
